Definitions

E.ON See means an app provided for use with a smart meter as part of the E.ON See trial, and which shows your energy usage and estimated costs.

E.ON See Hub means a Consumer Access Device which is provided with your smart meter as part of the E.ON See trial. The E.ON See Hub communicates with your smart meter and the router you use for your broadband and allows your E.ON See app to show information from your smart meter.

Smart Energy Display means a worktop display unit which is usually provided with a smart meter (as stated in your E.ON energy supply terms and conditions). It shows your electricity and gas usage and estimated costs. The Smart Energy Display is also sometimes known as an In Home Display.

Smart meter means a meter that can be communicated with and controlled remotely, for example to obtain meter readings.

1. Eligibility for the E.ON See trial

To take part in the E.ON See trial you must:

- be aged 18 or over;

- have been a customer of E.ON in Great Britain for your electricity and gas for the past 12 months;

- be on a tariff where you pay a single unit rate for all the electricity you use and a single unit rate for all the gas you use;

- not have solar panels, wind turbines or other micro generation installed at the property;

- have a broadband connection compatible with WiFi with a recommended minimum speed of 2Mb (‘megabits per second’);

- have a data allowance on your broadband and smart phone contract that allows for additional data usage to be downloaded and with at least 50Mb of upload data allowance required;

- have a smart phone with an operating system of at least iOSTM 8 or AndroidTM 4.4 and a resolution greater than 320 x 568 pixels;

- have an electricity credit meter and a gas credit meter in your property, and agree to have an electricity smart meter and a gas smart meter installed at your property (see your energy supply terms and conditions for more details about smart meters).

By taking part in the E.ON See trial you agree:

- to allow us access to your property to fit your smart meters and the E.ON See Hub;

- that, despite section 5.2 of E.ON’s supply terms and conditions, we can collect consumption data from your smart meters up to every five seconds for electricity and at least every 30 minutes for gas;

- to provide us with feedback on the trial and your use of E.ON See on request.

E.ON See may be unavailable from time to time due to either planned maintenance or circumstances beyond our control.

2. Getting started

You will be asked to download the E.ON See app and set up your password; which may be completed in advance of your smart meter installation.

Our technician will visit your property to fit your smart meters and E.ON See Hub. In some circumstances we may not be able to fit E.ON See at your property. If that happens we will explain the reasons and you won’t be able to join the E.ON See trial but we will offer you a physical Smart Energy Display instead.

You will be asked to launch the app on your smart phone and enter your unique set-up code that will be provided to you by the technician. The technician will ensure that your app is connected to the E.ON See Hub, but will not handle your smart phone at any time.
You can use your E.ON See account on multiple smart phones.

We will update E.ON See from time to time. New versions will be available to download from app stores which may need to be downloaded to maintain functionality of E.ON See.

3. Leaving the trial

The trial will continue for up to 18 months. At the end of the trial, if we decide not to continue with E.ON See we will write to you setting out what will happen next.

You can change your mind about being part of the trial at any time. Your app will have information about how to contact us.

If you move to another property, switch your gas or electricity to another supplier or otherwise become ineligible before the end of the trial, you will no longer be able to be part of the trial.

If your meter is exchanged for a standard credit meter or prepayment meter or if you switch to paying by Smart Pay As You Go before the end of the trial, you will no longer be able to be part of the trial and be unable to continue to use E.ON See.

If you are no longer part of the trial we will offer you a physical Smart Energy Display instead. We’ll arrange to install this with you.

4. How we’ll use information we get from E.ON See

We will use consumption data we obtain from E.ON See to provide you with information about your estimated energy costs. We will also use the data for research purposes allowing us to understand how E.ON See is utilised.
