Go green for £2 a month

For an extra £2 a month, we'll offset any gas you use and plant five trees in the Amazon rainforest

Cleaner, greener energy

Since July 2019 we've supplied all our residential customers with electricity backed by 100% renewable sources. But we’re always looking for ways to do more and to help you do more.

What is Go Green?

We're already supplying you with 100% renewable electricity. Upgrade to Go Green for just £2 a month extra and we'll offset any carbon you produce from using your gas. On top of that we’ll plant trees for you in the Amazon rainforest.

How does it work?

Any gas you use produces carbon, which is bad for the environment. To offset that, we'll fund carbon neutral projects around the world. Working with One Tree Planted we'll also plant five trees in the Amazon rainforest on your behalf.

Who are One Tree Planted?

One Tree Planted are a non-profit environmental charity with a focus on global reforestation. Once it reaches maturity, each tree we plant with them will absorb 23kg of carbon from the atmosphere, helping to protect our planet for the future.

What is carbon offset gas?

When you use gas, it releases carbon into the atmosphere. Carbon is a direct contributor to damaging the ozone layer and ultimately leading to climate change. We offset that carbon by investing in carbon neutral projects worldwide. We do this by purchasing ‘carbon emission reduction certificates’ or CERs for short.

Where are the trees being planted?

The trees are all being planted in the Amazon rainforest in Peru. 65% of Peru is covered by the Amazon rainforest. By supporting this project we're playing our part in reforestation, conserving habitats for jaguars and for hundreds of other species living in the protected areas. It also provides a sustainable livelihood to local people.

How does planting trees help protect our planet?

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s biodiversity (wildlife and wild animals). Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

How much carbon does a tree take out of the atmosphere?

Once the trees that we’re planting reach maturity they will take 23KG of carbon out of the atmosphere, making the air we breathe cleaner and safer for further generations.

Why aren't we planting trees in the UK?

We are one planet and climate change doesn’t recognise boundaries or countries. It's important that as a planet we support reforestation and helping to reduce climate damage. Planting trees in the Amazon rainforest will still benefit us in the UK and protect the planet for future years.
