E.ON See

What is E.ON See?

E.ON See is an online tool for you to see the energy you’re using in your home and how much you’re spending on it, allowing you to understand where your energy goes and take action to reduce your use if necessary.

Who can use E.ON See?

If you’re an E.ON residential customer and you manage your account online you can access E.ON See by logging onto your account. If you don’t currently manage your account online it’s quick and easy to set up, just register, enter your details and we’ll send you a confirmation email with a link to your account. As soon as you complete the set up by clicking on your activation email you can use E.ON See and see how you compare.

If you're a new customer or have moved home you won’t be able to see your energy use until you get your first bill. However you can still use E.ON See to view the Ways to Save and to tell us about your home.

What is my energy use?

How does your energy use stack up compared to other E.ON customers in your area? If you manage your account online, you can find out with E.ON See.

The "My energy use" graph shows you how your energy use changes through the year on a month-by-month basis, and also how your energy use compares to similar customer homes in your area. The graph shows your energy use for the previous 13 months at a time, providing you’ve been supplied by us for the whole of that time. By clicking the back red arrow you can view your energy use as far back as you've been an E.ON customer. If you have both your gas and electricity with E.ON, this graph displays both fuels together.

Your energy use is based on the average amount of energy we estimate that you consume daily (based on the meter reads we have for your property) and is updated each month; however the energy costs graph is updated in line with how often you receive bills.

The graphs may be based on estimated meter reads. To make sure the charts give the most accurate picture of your use you can send us your meter readings – just log onto your account and select submit meter reads.

Your energy costs will vary each month reflecting your use, but costs may also be affected by changes to your energy prices, or if you switch to another E.ON tariff. Of course, the weather will affect how much you use. Our weather information is obtained from weather stations such as airports and government sources. You can also see how the weather has impacted your energy use.

I am an existing E.ON customer can I use E.ON See?

As an existing customer you can start using E.ON See straight away, by logging onto your online account

If I give a meter reading, will E.ON See update?

Cost comparisons are updated once per month using either estimated or accurate meter reads. If you've given us an accurate meter read after your graphs have updated for that month it will not update again until the following month.

If I have a smart meter will it make a difference to E.ON See?

It won't make a difference to E.ON See if you have a smart meter. We'll use readings which we automatically take from your meter to create your graphs.

We're also working to bring additional functionality to our smart customers and we'll let you know when it's ready to use.

Why is my historical energy consumption information different on the Energy Tracker and the Saving Energy Toolkit?

The Energy Tracker shows how much energy you've used since you came on supply, whilst E.ON See displays the amount of energy you've been billed for. If your energy use has been based on estimated readings and we receive an accurate meter read, the Energy Tracker will update all of your historical information; however, as E.ON See displays the energy you've been billed for, it will only update to the last bill date.

What are similar homes in the Saving Energy Toolkit?

Through the similar homes comparison in E.ON See, our goal is to give you a comparison that's valid and meaningful.

We'll use the data available to us to identify homes that are similar to yours. For example, the number of bedrooms or whether the home is terraced, detached, semi-detached etc., as at the date of the last national census. We don’t include homes that the census show as unoccupied. We don't take into account things such as construction type.

We'll typically compare your energy use for the similar neighbour comparison to homes within the county you live in. To help us improve the accuracy of our comparisons, you can update the information about your home and the number of occupants in the ‘My Home’ page or by clicking on ‘What are similar homes’ within the My Energy page. You can also find this by clicking on ‘Tell us about your home’ on the Energy Breakdown section of the tool.

Why does the 'My Energy Usage Chart' in the Saving Energy Toolkit not match my bill amounts?

Billing periods may be for different time periods than the calendar months shown on the chart. To make it easier for our customers, the charts show all energy use on a month-by-month basis. We calculate this by estimating how much energy you use each day based on the consumption details we have.

How do similar homes manage to use so much less energy than me?

Other households may take a variety of steps to be more energy efficient, including using the thermostat to manage heating costs, turning off lights and devices when not in use and always running full loads in the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. While these homes use less energy than you, it might not be because their homes are more efficient – they may not be at home as often as you, or you may have life or health circumstances that mean you use more. See our Ways to Save hints and tips for ideas on how to be more energy efficient.

How often will my E.ON See graphs update?

Your comparison and energy use graphs will update monthly. Your energy costs chart will update after each time you receive a bill.

I don't want to share my E.ON See data, can I opt out?

If you don’t want to share your data, just contact us via email with your account details.

Having trouble using E.ON See?

To view  E.ON See you must have gas and/or electricity supplied by us and have registered to manage your account online.

If you're having trouble accessing E.ON See online it may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • If you're a new customer you will need to have received your first bill from us
  • If you've recently moved properties and have not received your first bill or are in the process of moving home

Remember you'll still be able access the "Ways to save" part of the tool, which gives you great advice on how to try to become more energy efficient, so take a look.

I've moved into my new home but I don't have my E.ON See 'historical data consumption' which I could see at my old property?

When you move home, we need to learn about how you consume energy at your new property. As we gain more information about you at your new property features in your E.ON See online tool will update.

I've moved into my new home, will E.ON See show the previous occupants' usage comparison?

Your energy usage and comparison is based on you and your new home, so it will not show you the usage compared to the previous occupant.

Do I need to manage my account online in order to use E.ON See?

You'll need to log into your online account if you want to use E.ON See yourself. If you don’t have access to the internet or have not registered your online account you can call one of our helpful customer service advisors who'll be happy to share your energy information with you.

I only have a single fuel, if I decide to have both fuels from E.ON, will E.ON See show both gas and electricity?

E.ON See will show the energy usage and comparison for the fuels we supply you with. The historic consumption and cost comparison will only show information for the length of time you have been supplied by us for that fuel.

I've certain life or housing circumstances, such as energy intensive medical equipment, that prevent me from reducing my energy use. So how can E.ON See help me?

It's understandable that some people may have life circumstances that make it difficult to reduce their home's energy use. We aim to provide a wide range of ideas that can address the various needs of our customers and their homes. We encourage you to find out which tips are best for you and search for more ideas. In some cases, you may not be able to make substantial savings, but we've found that most people can make at least some savings and we hope that we can help you to do so.
