The E.ON UK Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring that our company is run with the utmost professionalism and meets all the regulatory requirements associated with running our business compliantly. We are fully committed to meeting the expectations of our customers and stakeholders.
I joined E.ON UK as Chief executive officer (CEO) in 2017, but I’ve worked in the energy industry for over 25 years. At E.ON our vision for the future of energy is ambitious, the chance is there for us to lead the energy industry through a transformation - a smart, sustainable and personalised energy world. Working with and for the benefit of our customers.
I originally worked in technical and environmental roles, before moving into Corporate Strategy and Development. In 2007 I was appointed Managing Director for Europe on the Board of E.ON Climate and Renewables and I became CEO of E.ON Climate & Renewables in 2015.
I’m a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE).
I’ve been Chief Financial Officer for E.ON UK since July 2018. I’m a passionate believer that by building a sustainable business on a strong financial footing, we can fulfil our purpose of providing each of our customers with an energy solution that’s just right for them.
After completing my economic studies, I joined PreussenElektra (a former subsidiary of the VEBA/E.ON group) in 1998 as a Financial Analyst in Group Controlling. I then took on a number of senior finance roles and gained a broad experience in this field. I’ve been involved in most areas of finance from accounting through purchasing, controlling, strategy, to mergers and acquisitions.
In 2013 I became a member of the Board of the E.ON German Sales business, before being appointed to Chief Financial Officer for E.ON UK.
Customer is at the heart of what I do as the Residential Managing Director at E.ON UK. I have 6.1m residential customers to look after– ranging from servicing their everyday energy needs, ensuring we meet obligations that deliver energy efficiency and heating measures to homes, offer and install smart meters as part of the government mandate, through to providing new future energy home solutions that help to improve their lives.
Of course, I don’t do this alone, I’ve a passionate team focused on delivering outstanding service to our customers – with a wealth of technical skills and knowledge. Aiming to delight our customers every day, whether that’s on the phone, in their homes or through our digital channels.
I’ve spent 25 years working in major operational, commercial and supply chain roles for companies such as Land Rover, BMW, Boots and also as a Management Consultant for Ernst & Young.
In 2009, I joined E.ON as Supply Chain Director, later moving to the position as Director of Field Operations and then onto leading the Residential Service and Sales Operations.
We want our customers to have the best possible, personalised, experience we can offer. I believe that the best way to achieve this is to create an environment where our people feel valued, included and empowered to improve our customers lives.
Whether that’s helping to drive the smart revolution by recruiting and training Smart Meter Technicians, developing the industry’s future pioneers through our graduate, undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes, or encouraging everyone to reach their full potential through our inclusive talent programme – I’m proud of the opportunities we offer our people.
After spending over 20 years in HR roles for major blue-chip organisations, I joined E.ON in 2014 and undertook a number of roles before being appointed HR Director for our UK business at the start of 2018.
I see my role as making sure we earn and maintain our right to operate in the market, both now and into the future. A key part of that is to treat all our customers fairly, giving them the great experience they expect and deserve.
I and my team work with the business to ensure we operate legally, compliantly, safely, securely, healthily and in accordance with our regulatory obligations. We care about both our customers and our colleagues and work hard to deliver the best possible results.
Energy is high on the political agenda and another significant part of my role is to work closely with the Government, the regulator, Ofgem, Members of Parliament and other key political and non-governmental organisation (NGO) stakeholders. We reflect our experience from working in the fast-changing world of energy to ensure customers’ interests are protected and that we put customers first. It’s particularly important to ensure our most vulnerable customers are cared for and given the help and support they need.
I’ve been with the business for over 20 years now, since I first joined as a competition and regulatory lawyer. I then broadened my role through taking on a number of additional responsibilities, such as regulation, compliance, energy policy and external affairs including CSR, legal and company secretariat, HSSE and engineering governance. I joined the E.ON UK Board as Strategy & Regulation Director in 2012.
I joined E.ON UK in November 2018 motivated by the changing energy market and the great opportunities it presents for our customers. Previously, I developed an energy sales business with our joint venture partners in the Turkish market. I also led the corporate strategy function for E.ON SE.
My passion is driving change. This has never been more relevant than in my current role, because our Business & Community team is all about accelerating the transition to a, cleaner energy world where our customers can self-produce and share their energy. We are at the start of an exciting and rewarding energy revolution, for our customers, our business and ourselves.
