"Sustainability is at the very heart of our business and we were the first major energy supplier to provide our millions of customers with renewable electricity as standard and at no extra cost. And we’re proud to work with One Tree Planted on this important initiative which will deliver real environmental benefits for the Devon community and beyond."

E.ON has teamed up with reforestation charity One Tree Planted to plant more than 132,000 new trees across Devon on behalf of its customers around the country who already get 100% renewable electricity as standard1.

The planting, which will continue until 2024, is part of E.ON’s wider programme of helping customers at home and in business to become more sustainable, improve air quality in our communities, and help tackle climate change.

As well as adding to the visual appeal of the its towns and villages, Devon’s landscape trees are crucial to both urban and rural communities. They enhance air and water quality and help combat flooding and erosion.

E.ON UK CEO Michael Lewis said: “Sustainability is at the very heart of our business and we were the first major energy supplier to provide our millions of customers with renewable electricity as standard and at no extra cost. We’re keen to continue helping people take steps towards being more sustainable in their homes and in how they use energy. And we’re proud to work with One Tree Planted on this important initiative which will deliver real environmental benefits for the Devon community and beyond.”

The trees will be a range of native British species, all UK sourced and grown, with a number of mature “landmark” trees as well as saplings from local nurseries. The project is designed to not only contribute to climate change efforts but also improve biodiversity and natural habitats and have a wider impact on society and community.

Matt Hill, Chief Environmental Evangelist at One Tree Planted, said: "We're thrilled to help E.ON make a positive impact with reforestation to support their already robust sustainability initiatives. It's a win-win to reduce carbon emissions at the source and grow forests for the long-term benefits that trees provide for biodiversity, climate, and local communities."

Planting will take place in a variety of locations across Devon including Torbay, Exeter and Cranbrook new town where E.ON already manages the community district heating scheme for some 4,000 homes, and three rural communities in South Devon, East Devon and the Blackdown Hills.
