District heating

Distribute heat, in the form of hot water and steam, via insulated pipes to a network of local buildings from housing developments, local businesses or an entire sustainable city.

A partner for the entire process

Our experts take care of design, build and installation services for community energy and district heating schemes, all the way through to operation and maintenance.

Funded schemes

We can fund part or all of the costs of developing decentralised heating schemes.

Low-carbon future

We can help you build a low-carbon community to guarantee a more sustainable future.

Managed delivery

We’ll provide an Energy Service Company (ESCo) to produce, supply and manage the delivery of your district heating solution.

Flexible solutions

We have a range of options to solve construction challenges, as well as operation contracts for up to 25 years.

Building high quality, reliable networks

Planning

Working with developers and local authorities, right from the early stages, we’ll deliver a bespoke process. Whatever your plans, we’ll provide you with an overview of what to expect.

Construction

After extensive planning, we’ll deliver detailed construction and commercial analysis throughout your project. We’ll construct the primary network of underground pipes that facilitate the exchange of pressurised hot water.

Risk management

We’ve managed and delivered some of the most complex district heating projects in the UK. We’ll continually analyse and manage your risk whilst taking into consideration the entire life-cycle of the project, from concept to construction.

We’re helping the City of London become a zero emissions city

We’ve created a hidden power station and underground distribution network in the City of London. Our tri-generation system is a lower carbon, cost-effective source of power, heat and cooling to the high-density urban area.

Working closely with E.ON we see their district energy system as a key part of the solution to our environmental strategy for the City of London.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an ESCo?

An Energy Service Company (ESCo) is a commercial structure created specifically to produce, supply and manage the local delivery of decentralised energy to a ‘whole site’ development.

High initial capital costs can be seen as an obstacle to setting up a decentralised energy supply. An ESCo can help fund part or all of the scheme and assume responsibility for design and build right through to completion.

How can we help fund your heating solution?

Under the ESCo agreement, we can help fund part or all of the scheme and assume responsibility for design and build right through to operation, maintenance, billing and delivery of customer care.

How can we help deliver your project?

Advice

An ESCo can be formed to support regeneration of an area, a large residential development, a single commercial initiative such as an office or manufacturing plant, a hospital, or a multi-unit development of commercial offices or retail outlets. We can work with you to establish the ESCo, creating the commercial structure to own and manage the project.

Delivery

Under the ESCo agreement, we can help fund part or all of the scheme and assume responsibility for design and build right through to operation, maintenance, billing and delivery of customer care.

Cost efficiencies

You now have a community based, secure and environmentally friendlier energy solution with any excess power generated by the energy centre exported and sold to the market. This reduces the overall cost of energy supplied to you or the occupiers of your particular development.
