E.ON has today announced it has joined Neurodiversity in Business (NiB), an initiative to help ensure greater workplace inclusion of the neurodivergent community.

NiB is a business-led forum to support the participation of neurodivergent people in the workplace. The organisation draws upon the cumulative knowledge of neurodivergent experts and leading companies to share best practice and improve the employment and experience of the neurodiverse workforce.

Around one in seven people in the UK are neurodivergent meaning that the brain functions, learns and processes information differently.1  NiB’s members aim to build a better workplace for neurodivergent people, helping them to progress in their careers and fostering a corporate environment where they are welcomed, understood and valued.

Helen Bradbury, Chief People Officer at E.ON UK, said: “Diversity and inclusion is at the heart of everything that we do at E.ON. We’re proud to have been recognised as one of the UK’s Top 50 Inclusive Employers for six years running and we’re committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels a true sense of belonging so they can be themselves and thrive.

“We’re delighted to join Neurodiversity in Business to help us further improve our collective awareness and understanding of neurodiversity, so we can better support and empower our neurodivergent colleagues.”

Dan Harris, CEO of Neurodiversity in Business, said: “We are delighted that E.ON UK has become a member of NiB. It signals their commitment to ensuring a truly inclusive workplace and a desire to strive for the best in diversity and inclusion standards. We look forward to working with E.ON UK and all our members in delivering meaningful change for the neurodivergent across business.”

Named one of the UK’s Top 50 Inclusive Employers, E.ON has an ongoing commitment to building an inclusive organisation where colleagues know they’re valued and respected. E.ON has developed colleague-led inclusivity networks, which support areas including racial inclusion, gender equality, neurodiversity, parents, LGBT+, menopause and mental health, with more than a quarter of colleagues actively participating in these networks.

E.ON has also introduced hybrid working options giving flexibility and autonomy, advertises all its roles as flexible including part time and job share options and has updated its recruitment and selection training with a focus on inclusion to support those with disabilities and those who are neurodivergent.
