"As one of the Games' partners, we welcomed the opportunity to sponsor Pride House and be an ally to the many people here and in other countries that can face challenge or persecution simply because of their sexuality."

E.ON, one of the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers, has been named an official Main Sponsor for Pride House at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Pride House Birmingham is a venue devoted to inclusion and culture which is located in the heart of the city’s Gay Village, above The Loft Bar & Kitchen on Bromsgrove Street. Pride Houses are safe spaces welcoming LGBTIQ+ people and allies that have been established at many sporting events around the world since 2010.

Visitors include competing athletes, fans and spectators, VIPs, and people fulfilling other roles in the event itself. A busy programme of activities, performances, screenings and entertainment is supplemented by viewing opportunities of live sport. At Birmingham 2022, and for the first time in Commonwealth Games history, the Pride House will be fully integrated, ensuring wider awareness of its ‘Celebrate, Participate, Educate’ ethos and programme.

Chris Norbury, Chief People Officer, E.ON UK said: “Birmingham 2022 aspires to create a positive legacy that lasts long after the sport has finished. As one of the Games' partners, we welcomed the opportunity to sponsor Pride House and be an ally to the many people here and in other countries that can face challenge or persecution simply because of their sexuality.

“I’m proud of the way we approach diversity and equality at E.ON UK and I hope that by supporting Pride House and everything it will do in a practical sense, as well as everything it stands for, we can play our part in helping bring those values forward during the Games and beyond.”

Pride House Birmingham, which will remain open for the duration of the Games until Monday 8 August, is delivered by Pride Sports, a UK-based sports development and inclusion organisation. Pride Sports was established in 2006 and has worked across the UK to make sport and physical activity more inclusive of LGBTIQ+ people.

E.ON is also an official partner of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, supporting the ambition of making this summer’s Games the most sustainable Games yet. As part of this, E.ON is an official partner of the Games’ Business and Tourism Programme, the first accredited Commonwealth Games programme of its kind. The programme, being delivered by a range of regional and national partners including the West Midlands Growth Company, builds on the profile of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to cement the West Midlands as a globally sought-after location to visit, invest, trade and live in.
