"...the team worked tirelessly to provide a race winning car. The same can be said for the whole season, as we found ourselves wheel-to-wheel with the best on the grid, never dropping out of the top three in the championship standings."

- Dan Bailey, CEO of Veloce Racing

First place for Veloce Racing in Round 10 of Extreme E marked the team's third victory of the year, and a strong recovery from Saturday's Round 9 where mechanical failures scuppered the team's chance at a maiden Extreme E title.

With Rosberg X Racing (RXR) and ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team (ASXE) finishing first and second in the championship, respectively, Veloce Racing dominated Sunday’s racing action to take the win and secure third in the championship standings.

Veloce Chile 2Last weekend’s double-header concluded a year of impressive racing, which showcased the power and potential that electrification brings. Not only that, Extreme E is also helping the car industry to develop future-facing technology, using racing as a platform for road innovation.

The first sport to ever be built out of a social purpose, Extreme E aims to minimise environmental impact while maximising awareness, taking fans deep into the heart of these pressing issues and leaving a positive legacy at race locations. The X Prix in Chile was no different, as the all-electric off-road series engaged with an initiative around flamingo conservation and also held talks around sustainability in a local school.

The Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix (2-3 December) saw E.ON’s partner Veloce Racing fly out of the blocks in the first day of racing. Drivers Molly Taylor and Kevin Hansen won the first Qualifying Heat of the day in style, sporting an eye-catching chrome livery voted for by VEXT token holders.

Mechanical issues following a collision in the second round of qualifying meant Saturday's racing ultimately ended in disappointment as the Odyssey 21 failed to finish in the grand final. Sunday brought better results as Veloce Racing stormed to victory in the final round of 2023, picking up where they left off before Saturday’s DNFs, ending a strong 2023 campaign on a high note.

Molly Taylor, Veloce Racing driver, said: “It feels amazing to end the season with a victory here in Chile. This course really suited us as a team, and we showed race winning pace throughout the double-header. The team executed everything perfectly on Sunday and they truly deserve the victory. While it stung to fall short of a maiden Extreme E title, our season this year has been so strong and we will be taking this momentum into 2024."

Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing driver, said: “A win was the perfect end to such a great season with the team. We had a frustrating time in Round 9 where we fell out of contention for the Extreme E title, despite being up there at the front of the pack, but I'm so happy we could repay the team with a third victory this year. For Molly, myself, and the team to make it into the top three in our first full campaign together is an amazing achievement, and there is so much for us to build on heading into next season."

Dan Bailey, CEO, Veloce Racing, added: “While we missed out on our maiden Extreme E title there is still so much for Veloce Racing to be proud of. Kevin and Molly put on a stellar performance at the weekend, and the team worked tirelessly to provide a race winning car. The same can be said for the whole season, as we found ourselves wheel-to-wheel with the best on the grid, never dropping out of the top three in the championship standings.

“Our attention has already switched to Season 4, and we'll be looking to build upon our three victories this year and convert our pace into an Extreme E championship trophy.”
