High Volts

At the time of their construction in 2004, High Volts Wind Farm was the largest and most powerful in the UK. A local company, AMEC Wind Services, initially developed the site and also managed the project during construction.

Assembly on the site began in the summer of 2003, with the turbines being delivered to Hartlepool docks. The parts were then transported in sections to site in delivery vehicles up to 50m long in October 2003.

In 2015, High Volts Wind Farm generated enough power to supply over 4,000 homes.*
