Meet our leadership team
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
I joined E.ON UK as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2017, having worked in the energy industry for over 25 years. At E.ON, our vision for the future of energy is ambitious. We have the chance to lead the energy industry through a transformation to a smart, sustainable and personalised energy world, working with and for the benefit of our customers.
Having joined Powergen in 1993, I originally worked in technical and environmental roles, before moving into corporate strategy and development, and following E.ON’s acquisition of Powergen in 2002, I moved to E.ON’s headquarters in Düsseldorf as Vice President Corporate Development. In 2007, I was appointed Managing Director for Europe on the Board of E.ON Climate and Renewables, before becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2012 where I was responsible for global wind power development, construction and operations, and I became CEO of E.ON Climate and Renewables in 2015.
I’m a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE).
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
I’ve been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for E.ON UK since July 2018. I’m a passionate believer that by building a sustainable business on a strong financial footing, we can fulfil our purpose of providing each of our customers with an energy solution that’s just right for them.
After completing my economic studies, I joined PreussenElektra (a former subsidiary of the VEBA/E.ON group) in 1998 as a Financial Analyst in Group Controlling. I've had a number of senior finance roles and gained broad experience in this field. I’ve been involved in most areas of finance from accounting through purchasing, controlling and strategy, to mergers and acquisitions.
In 2013, I became a member of the Board of the E.ON German Sales business, before being appointed to Chief Financial Officer for E.ON UK.
Chief Transformation Officer (CTO)
I joined E.ON UK in May 2019 as Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) after being with E.ON since 2017 when I took the role of Program Director for our Group Digital Attacker Program. I’ve always had a passion for successfully leading change and delivering colleague and customer value across large scale sales and service organisations. In my current role as CTO I’m now focussing on the UK’s future transformational change.
I started my career as management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, and since then I held several international senior executive roles focusing on growth and digital transformation within blue chip telecoms companies across Germany, Romania and Australia.
During my time with E.ON the commitment of our people to improve customers’ and colleagues’ lives is something that always shines through and makes me proud to work here. It’s also this commitment that makes me confident we’re well positioned to win in the rapidly changing smart, sustainable and personalised new energy world.
I obtained a doctorate in physics after studying at the RWTH Aachen and the University of Düsseldorf.
Chief Operating Officer Industrial and Commercial
Having qualified as an accountant in London, I then lived and worked in the Bahamas and New Jersey and held board roles in Japan, Hong Kong and China. I have an MBA at Cranfield School of Management where I specialised in Entrepreneurship and Business Growth.
I joined E.ON in 2012, having previously worked at Avis as the UK Commercial Director as well as holding senior roles with Santander, Lloyds TSB, Universal Studios and the Rank Group.
Before moving to E.ON SE in 2015, I was E.ON UK’s B2B Managing Director, responsible for the profit streams in both SME and Corporates markets; I was also the E.ON UK Marketing Director, responsible for the delivery of UK-wide Marketing, Digital, Customer Insight & Experience programmes.
Since moving to E.ON SE in Germany, my roles have included E.ON’s Global Chief Marketing Officer with responsibility for Brand, Customer Communications, Customer Insights and Customer Experience. I was also executive sponsor of E.ON’s Global NPS and iNPS programmes and I continue to champion immersive experiences and co-creation with customers. I also took on the role of interim Chief Digital Officer as E.ON set up its global digital transformation programme and held executive responsibility for E.ON Vision and Values whilst developing the E.ON Culture.
Before returning to the UK in April 2020 I was Senior Vice President Global Industrial & Commercial Energy Solutions and CEO of E.ON Business Solutions which serves business customers with integrated Energy Generation, Digital Energy Management and Energy Flexibility Solutions. The core purpose of the division is to enable businesses to achieve their energy efficiency, sustainability and compliance goals.
Political and Regulatory Affairs Director
My team and I work to ensure we operate legally, compliantly and safely in accordance with our regulatory obligations, making sure we earn and maintain our right to operate in the market, treating our customers fairly and giving them the great experience they deserve.
Energy is high on the political agenda and another significant part of my role is to work closely with the Government, the regulator, Ofgem, Members of Parliament and other key political and non-governmental organisation (NGO) stakeholders. We work hard to ensure customers’ interests are protected and that we put customers first. It’s particularly important to ensure our most vulnerable customers are cared for and given the help and support they need.
I’ve been with E.ON for over 20 years. I first joined as a competition and regulatory lawyer. I broadened my role through taking on a number of additional responsibilities, such as regulation, compliance, energy policy and external affairs including CSR, legal and company secretariat, HSSE and engineering governance. I joined the E.ON UK Board as Strategy and Regulation Director in 2012.
Human Resources Director
We want our customers to have the best possible, personalised, experience we can offer. I believe that the best way to achieve this is to create an environment where our people feel valued, included and empowered to improve our customers' lives.
Whether it’s helping to drive the smart revolution by recruiting and training Smart Meter Technicians, developing the industry’s future pioneers through our graduate, undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes, or encouraging everyone to reach their full potential through our inclusive talent programme – I’m proud of the opportunities we offer our people.
After spending over 20 years in HR roles for major blue-chip organisations, I joined E.ON in 2014 and undertook a number of roles before being appointed HR Director for our UK business at the start of 2018.
Managing Director, Residential
Customer is at the heart of what I do as the Residential Managing Director at E.ON UK. I’ve got a passionate team focused on delivering outstanding service to our customers – with a wealth of skills and knowledge. Aiming to delight our customers every day, whether that’s on the phone, in their homes or through our digital channels.
We've 6.1m residential customers to look after – ranging from servicing their everyday energy needs to ensure we meet obligations that deliver energy efficiency and heating measures to homes. Plus offering and installing smart meters as part of the government mandate and providing new future energy home solutions that help to improve their lives.
I’ve spent 25 years working in major operational, commercial and supply chain roles for companies such as Land Rover, BMW, Boots and also as a Management Consultant for Ernst & Young.
In 2009, I joined E.ON as Supply Chain Director, later moving to the position as Director of Field Operations and then onto leading the Residential Service and Sales Operations.
Managing Director, Business and Community Solutions
I joined E.ON UK in November 2018 motivated by the changes happening in the energy market and the great opportunities they present for our customers. Previously, I developed an energy sales business with our joint venture partners in the Turkish market and more recently I also led the corporate strategy function for E.ON SE.
My passion is driving change and realising opportunities; whether that’s through exceeding customers’ needs by offering innovative products and solutions or through new business ventures. This has never been more relevant than in my current role, because our Business and Community team is all about accelerating the transition to a cleaner energy world where our customers can self-produce and share their energy. We're at the start of an energy revolution, one that’s exciting and rewarding for our customers, our business and ourselves.
