How much will a meter cost?

The meter and installation is free for all residential new connections.

What are your charges?

A meter installed on a new connection and installation of it is free of charge. For more information about our energy tariffs click here.

How do I find out who my energy supplier is?

If you're unsure of who your current electricity supplier is then you can contact the Meter Point Administration Service (MPAS) for your area. You can find your local MPAS office number from Directory enquiries.

To find your gas supplier you can contact the Meter Point Reference line (formerly National Grid) on 0870 608 1524.

I already have cables or pipework but have no meter?

For electricity please refer to MPAS matrix to obtain your MPAN/Supply number. If you're advised that a supply number does not exist, please contact us on 0345 301 5921 and we'll arrange for a supply number to be created which can take up to 6-8 weeks. You'll be asked if your cable is live and if there's electric coming through from outside.

For gas please contact your gas transporter post code arrangement as above to arrange a live/dead check, if your pipework is live, please contact us on 0345 301 5921 and we'll arrange for an MPR number to be created for your property which can take up to 6-8 weeks. Once received, we can arrange your meter installation.

What is an MPAN?

Also known as the Supply Number. It is the unique registration number given to each domestic and small business electricity customers.

What is an MPR?

This is the Meter Point Reference number. It is a unique registration number given to domestic and small business gas customers, and relates to the pipework that has been installed at the property.
